Snow is finally in the air. Please remain careful as you venture out on your local ski trail to train, race and enjoy our sport. Organizers are working hard to put on safe events this winter. See the previous post for more detailed safety information. If you are ready for some competition, please sign up on ski reg, as most events will be limiting their field size to accommodate small groups spaced out over time. This year will continue to be very different. If you are healthy and eager to race, please join us this season.
First off: The first (and hopefully last) Socially distant relay.– You can ski it anywhere, and submit your times until December 28rh. Just sign up to get access to the results submission sheet, or come out to Maple Ski ridge on Monday or Tuesday between 4 and 7 to ski on their fast course. The fastest combined time for 2 people covering a 1KM course (2 laps each) will win the bragging rights as the only skiers in the world to win this event ever.
Next up, Paul allison will be hosting skate and classic 10K’s at Gore Ski Bowl January 2-3. Registration pages will be up soon, sign up and ski hard.
Then off to Saratoga for a speedy 10KM skate- This will be an old school interval start. You against the clock, safe distance from all competitors, register early to make sure you get a spot. There will be more events posted shortly on the following weekends.
Winona forest has brought back their Try -it event January 23rd, and will be hosting a 1 loop 12.5K race (classical in the morning followed by skate in the afternoon). Far in the future on February 6th they plan to host the 12.5 /25/50K Tourathon. Fields are limited and filling up fast, so sign up now.
