Nordic skiers can now find a range of used Nordic equipment at ski swap sales.

If you are from the lower Hudson Valley, Metro NY, New Jersey or Connecticut, it’s worth a drive to beautiful TOEC in Cold Spring, NY on Sunday, November 7 to find great used Nordic ski equipment – cross country skis for kids and adults, boots, poles, bindings, snowshoes, roller skis and blades, car racks and ski boxes.

Admission is free.  The Nordic Swap Sale from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. is sponsored by Friends of Fahnestock & Hudson Highlands State Park in cooperation with Fahnestock Winter Park.  It is a place to sell and purchase serviceable used equipment that is outgrown or little used.

If you are interested in selling potential merchandise, equipment drop off is on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. or Sunday 8 to 9:30 a.m.  You set a reasonable price and complete an Equipment Swap Form.  To obtain a form in advance or for more information, contact paul.kuznia@oprhp.state.ny.us.  No three pin binding systems, downhill equipment or bikes will be accepted.

If equipment is sold, 20% of the sale price is retained by the Friends to be used for improving Fahnestock Winter Park programs.

To get to TOEC, traveling from Taconic Parkway, exit Cold Spring/Rte 301. Travel west five miles or from Rte 9 drive east on Rte 301 for two miles. Turn on Dennytown Rd.  Watch for signs.  Travel ¼ mile-turn right at Indian Brook Rd. Drive ¼ mile-turn left at Mountain Laurel Lane.

It’s only in recent years that Nordic racers and touring skiers have been able to find reasonable Nordic equipment at these kinds of ski swap sales.  If your nonprofit organization or Nordic club is having a similar upcoming swap sale, email the details to me roosmean@verizon.net.  I plan to summarize on the NYSSRA Nordic website a schedule of Nordic ski swaps in November and December.
