Since it’s inception, NYSSRA-Nordic has been an organization run by a team of committed volunteers working to grow nordic skiing across the state. This year, thanks largely to the work done to establish NYSSRA-Nordic as a 501 c3 charitable organization, NYSSRA has created a brand new leadership position that will help create greater year-to-year continuity, help secure funding to boost the great events hosted by our sanctioned clubs, and perhaps expand NYSSRA’s work into new areas. The volunteer Board will still remain an integral part of NYSSRA-Nordic but the addition of this position will help build on the work they do.
After a careful search, Greg Malia has been hired as the Executive Director of NYSSRA-Nordic. Greg brings a wealth of experience starting youth sports programs from scratch as a founder of the St. Joseph School and Wallkill High School Cross-country teams and the Kingston Nordic Team. For the last ten years he has worked to build, promote and secure sponsorships for the annual Kingston Nordic Roller Ski Race. Through his work he has been able to build relationships with international companies and local businesses. He aims to bring this experience to NYSSRA and help secure funding to boost the Bill Koch youth ski offerings in New York, aid in trail and infrastructure improvements across the state and support the many offerings of our sanctioned clubs.
Please offer congratulations to Greg and look forward to a new beginning for NYSSRA-Nordic in 2015!
