The NYSSRA fall membership “race” has officially closed and the super-computer is fast at work tallying up the totals to see which NYSSRA club has jumped out to an early lead. Now that it is December we can start to look forward to the great upcoming races on the calendar and the exciting points competition that will ensue. Each NYSSRA sanctioned race offers you a chance to earn points to help your club win the championship banner. Be sure to highlight the 5 “Wilkinson Cup” races on your race calendar. This mini-series of races can help earn your club earn double points, eternal personal glory and the cash-money prize pack at the end of the season!

The Season Opener: This year NYSEF hopes to host the season opener in Lake Placid. DATE: Sunday, December 14, 2014 RACE LOCATION: Mt. Van Hoevenberg START TIME: 10:30 AM mass start by race distance/gender DISTANCE: Ladies 5 km Course 5km (1 lap) U16 boys/girls. 10 km (2 laps) U18/U20/U23/Senior/Master men/women TECHNIQUE: freestyle BIB PICK-UP: 8:30-9:30 AM AWARDS: following the race. The PIE Race: This year the Osceola Pie race will be the 1st stage of the “Wilkinson Cup” mini-series. This race is at the Osceola Tug Hill XC Center and is shaping up to be a big event with some of the most delicious prizes you will see all season. Here are the details: WILKINSON CUP SERIES RACE #1 Classic technique. 5k for U16, U18, Senior, and Masters, 2k for Bill Koch skiers 10:30 a.m. start for Bill Koch, 11:00 a.m. for juniors, open, and masters, interval start Pre-reg by Dec. 18, $20. ADK Vauhti Skiathlon: Finish off December with a trip to Day, NY for the ADK Vauthi skiathlon.
