The NYSSRA Season now has it’s own “Tour de Ski!” In an ultimate test of endurance and ski prowess, NYSSRA members can partake in the newly formatted 3 stage event, from February 3-5,2012, the NYSSRA Nordic/ESG Tour NADO!
The Empire State Games Cross Country Championships and the Lake Placid Loppet have joined forces for the NYSSRA Nordic-ESG Cross Country Ski Tour-NADO. This unique event will challenge skiers of all levels and abilities and will be used to determine overall Empire State Games Cross Country Ski Champions.
Skiers will have the opportunity to ski in up to three events over the ESG/Loppet weekend. Skiers who compete in any of these events will have the opportunity to be named NYSSRA/ESG TourNADO World Champions of the Empire State! Skiers do not have to compete in all three events to be eligible for overall awards. The sum of any and all NYSSRA points scored during this weekend celebration of ski racing will be used to determine overall awards. Of course, the more events one completes, the greater the chance of becoming a NYSSRA/ ESG TourNADO World Champion!
Friday, Feb 3, 2012:
ESG TourNADO Prologue: Scheduled to be held at the XC Stadium at Mount Van Hoevenberg. Skiers will compete in a 2.5 km Freestyle Timetrial. Individual ESG medals in all divisions will be awarded for this event. Skiers will score NYSSRA points for this event.

Saturday, Feb 4, 2012:
Lake Placid Loppet. Skiers may choose to compete in the 50 km Classic, 50 km Freestyle, 25 km Classic or 25 km Freestyle events. Awards are given by ORDA/Lake Placid Loppet. Skiers will score NYSSRA points for this event. The Loppet has separate registration and entry fees. All NYSSRA skiers who complete any of the Loppet distances/techniques will receiveESG TourNADO points for their efforts. Registration for the Lake Placid Loppet is available here.
Sunday, Feb 5, 2012:
ESG TourNADO Championship Finale: A 7.5 km Classic race at Mount Van Hoevenberg will be used as the Tour finale. ESG medals will be awarded for this event. NYSSRA Points will be scored for this event.

NYSSRA Nordic – ESG TourNADO Champions: Skiers who compete in any of the three TourNADO events will be eligible for an additional ESG medal as Tour Champion. Skiers will have their NYSSRA points totalled for each of the three events, and age-class ESG medals will be given in each division for the overall Tour competition.
