10. It’s still winter and the skiing is still awesome in Lake Placid!
9. It’s one of the few times where biathlon and cross country get to share the stage at an event. Race and cheer on your Nordic Skiing brethren!
8. There are four great races to participate in, including our feature race, the 21 km classic Champions Cup.
7. End of season awards!!! You’ve been skiing hard all season and NYSSRA wants to reward you for participating. Only skiers who compete in the Champions Cup race are eligible for end of the season awards. Age-group awards and the new NYSSRA Red Group awards will be presented. You must have skied in at least one other race and participate in the Champions Cup race in order to be eligible. Double NYSSRA points are awarded for the Champions Cup Race.
6. Club Championship 12 km Freestyle Relay. Bragging rights and the coveted Club Championship Banner are on the line on Sunday afternoon. Clubs may enter as many teams as they wish in one of three categories, men, women, mixed. Teams are made of 2 0r 3 skiers skiing alternating freestyle laps of the 2 km course. Sign up your skiers now, and finalize your relay teams on race day.
5. The 21 km Classic course heads out over the “masters-friendly” trails of the biathlon side. With few places for big attacks, the mass start race should come down to a heated sprint at the finish. Be part of the excitement!!!
