I received the following email from the Empire State Games office today.
“It is with great regret and sadness that I must inform you of the cancellation of the 2011 Empire State Games’ programs.
We have been informed that there will be no appropriation for any of the Empire State Games programs in the coming year, and two of our five staff members have been laid off effective the end of the year. The other three have been re-assigned within the State Parks agency. With no money and no staff, we have no program.
Perhaps in the future the economic climate will improve, and the Games will experience a rebirth. For now I thank you all for your hard work, your dedication and support.

This only effects the ESG’s and will have no effect on NYSSRA Nordic or any of it programs or events. We look forward to a great winter of skiing, training, and competition that will conclude with New York’s premiere Nordic Ski championship Event. ” The 2011 NYSSRA Nordic Champs” March 12,13 2011. Be sure to join NYSSRA nordic and Register your club for the up coming season to be eligible for The “NYSSRA SERIES” the “NYSSRA SERIES AWARDS” and the the “NYSSRA Club Championships“. We are also looking forward to the “Mid-Atlantic/NYSSRA Bill Koch Festival” Feb 19,20, 2011, Hosted by the Syracuse Nordic Club.
