Heads up, if you are still in the mood to race, we have you covered: Easter race registration

20 competitors have signed up by Friday, so it should be a fun time!

This year the HURT Easter Scramble will not happen. We can’t replace it, but we will have some Easter fun instead.  GHN-ADK Vauhti will be holding a 5/10k freestyle at Saratoga biathlon {3016 South Shore Dr.
Day, NY 12835} at 11 on Sunday the 25th.

Bring the kids! 2K BKYSL for big kids, and for the younger crowd, ski a 200M loop and collect Easter eggs along the way! We suggest kids try to ski their age in loops as they collect eggs, but we insist all comers have a great time in the pristine spring snow!- Once we finish up if there is intrest we will hold an informal team sprint, 4 laps of 2km, teams of 2 tag off to see who is fastest (if you are not familiar with team sprints, you should be, Team USA won the Olympic team sprint with Kikkan Randall, and Jessie Diggins!!!!!)

Winter 3.0 came just in time for some excellent spring skiing. Junior trips at Gore and in Rumford Maine were held on the past two weekends. Participants benefited from some top notch Waxing and Coaching from Brian Halligan and Dave Paarlberg-Kvam.- there is an excellent write-up here.

NYSSRA’s onsite reporter had this to say “If you haven’t seen the results, Scotty took 3rd overall, Brian took 8th and Grace too 10th.  Scott missed second by one point, and also missed beating Ben Ogden by 46 hundredths.  There is a great finish line photo at https://www.chisholmskiclub.org/index.php/2018-eastern-hs-championships.  Great racing.” -Photos and commentary care of Kris Alberga.

NYSSRA members should be proud of our Jr racers. and take some pride in the support our organization gives these JR trips. Without the hard work and countless hours given by the volunteer trip leaders- these trips would not happen.- On behalf of NYSSRA Nordic: Thank you!

Numerous NYSSRA racers extended their competitive season past the close of NYSSRA’s season by racing in the Lake Placid Nordic Festival. Results are at Underdog timing.com, Kudos to those brave enough to take on that tough course.

Saratoga Biathlon has excellent conditions. Th Club put on a fun biathlon relay and mass start Sunday. Results will be up shortly, but a good time was had by all.

After feedback from many NYSSRA racers, the decision has been made not to hold NYSSRA Championship CLUB Relays for 2018. Some clubs will be hosting fun spring races instead of more serious relay competitions. This seems more appropriate as many club members are transitioning to their spring sports, and the field could be depleted.- Wherever you are, get outside and enjoy the snow.
