So we know this may not be as fun as Buzz feed. But here are the Top 5 most important takeaways from the fall planning meeting…
1) THE RACE IS ON! Ready, set, go! The first race of the NYSSRA season is all about membership. The NYSSRA club with the most members signed up on ski-reg will win the first points race of the season. Be sure to sign up today and get all your social media contacts to sign up too. (yes, even that one guy, that you met that one time, at that work party, who friend-requested you, and you aren’t quite sure why)…even that guy can ski for your team. 2) USSA! NYSSRA-Nordic is now the officially recognized nordic ski organization for the Mid-Atlantic region by USSA. This includes all of Pennsylvania! Get your PA friends to start a NYSSRA club, hosting races and getting people on snow. The Wilderness Wildcats are our newest PA addition and we hope many more will come. We hope to see some of our PA friends coming north this winter!
3) GREAT SCHEDULE – Start planning your travel now. Check out our proposed slate of races and check back regularly for finalized details. If you are a race organizer, please send in your official sanctioning paperwork and race details soon. Sanctioning fees will increase the longer you wait!
4) WILKINSON SCORING – The Cross-Country committee has adjusted to Wilkinson Cup scoring. The changes will reflect a greater emphasis on identifying and awarding the consistently fastest male and fastest female skier in NY. 5) LOOKING FRESH – NYSSRA nordic is looking to re-energize the Mid-Atlantic ski committee. We are looking for new parents, friends and volunteers to get involved developing youth opportunities in NY. If you would like to get involved with Mid-Atlantic junior skiing, please email thuneck@nycap.rr.com. NYSSRA is currently looking for volunteers to help with the Eastern High School Championship trip and U16 Championship in March. NYSSRA has allocated money for 26 more NYS uniforms from Verge (one of our new NYSSRA sponsors) which will look great on our junior team!
