Looking outside right now it seems difficult to believe that Saturday’s Holland Patent JOQ had to be cancelled due to a lack of snow. However die hard racers were still able to compete on Sunday.
This weekend about 70 racers made the trek to Old forge for the last JNQ, and the third leg of the Wilkinson Cup.
Skies were bright, temperatures were in the low teens, but conditions were surprisingly slippery. Kudos to the Polar bear crew for maintaining such a great course.
Juniors raced 5Km, while masters and Seniors raced 10Km. Racers hit the trail every 15 seconds, making for close competition.
NYSEF claimed the top spots for the Day. The Armstrong sisters took the top 2 spots in the U18F section (Polar Bear skier: Megan Greene took Bronze).

NYSEF men swept the podium for U18 & U16.

HURT’s Tim Huneck won the Masters 10K race, while Biathlete Stina Bridgeman won the women’s race. Her time is even more impressive considering she won her Biathlon race on the same steep course earlier that morning.
Results will be here shortly:
Next Up: Empire state games! New York’s own miniature Tour de ski!
Friday night a Sprint race, Saturday a distance Classic (and sprint championship), Sunday a Skate race (which happens to be the 4th leg of this years Wilkinson Cup). There is no other weekend like Empire State Games
See you there!
