After this weekends total washout/deluge/flood in Lake Placid you may be tempted to sell your skis for a kayak, but don’t do it!  There are many great options for ski racing this upcoming weekend!

If you are a JUNIOR SKIER, make plans to attend next weekend final JNQ at Bristol Mountain in Canandaigua, NY.  The day will feature a 3k freestyle and 3K classic (non-continuous) pursuit race for the junior level skiers.  This race does NOT include an open/master component but if you are a skier hoping to make it to the Junior National Championships, Eastern High School Championship or U16 Championships plan on attending this great day of ski action.  It is also a nice way to preview the courses used for this years High School State Meet. Full registration information is provided here: https://www.skireg.com/Net/rochester-jnq–high-school-invitational (Please note the different race categories for Junior level skiers. )  Registration for this event closes on Wednesday so the race organizers have ample time to seed and sort the junior level skiers based on pervious performance in JNQ racing.

If you are traveling out to Western, NY for the weekend, don’t forget about the NYSSRA points series races held on Sunday, January 19th.  These races are open for both JUNIOR and OPEN/MASTER skiers. Be sure not to miss the RXCSF race (registration here: https://www.skireg.com/Net/rxcsf-freestyle-poronkusema). The RXCSF freestyle race is confirmed for this Sunday with a venue and slight time change. The race will be held on the man made snow loop at Bristol Nordic. Registration details are updated with these changes.  Remember,  this race is open to all ages and classes from masters to Bill Koch. Bib pick-up at 8AM. Bill Koch and novice racers start at 8:30AM. Open/Masters race at9AM.Please note, anyone who isn’t a season ticket holder at Bristol will also need to pay $10 the morning of the race to Bristol for a trail pass. This is in addition to the race fee.
If you are in the Ithaca area, Cayuga Nordic Classic Race held at Hammond Hill State Forest in Dryden, NY  (register at cayuganordicski.org).  You can have a great weekend of NYSSRA racing in Western NY!
Are you trying to earn points for the WILKINSON CUP SERIES this year?  If so, don’t forget to register for the Queensbury Invitational Ski Race held in Glens Falls.  Due to the current conditions the race venue may be moved, but the race organizers are optimistic that the race can still be held.  You can register for this race here: www.skireg.com/Net/glens-falls-freestyle and this race is also open to JUNIOR and OPEN/MASTER skiers.
There is lots of racing to be found this coming weekend so make plans to keep skiing on the brain and register for the races.  See you out there!
