Snow is still falling in the Northern Adirondacks, as I post this another foot of snow is on the ground in LP, and it’s still snowing!  Conditions should be fabulous for the upcoming NYSSRA Champions Cup Weekend.  Registration is available online, and you can choose to register now, but pay at the event.  Registration fees are $20 for one event, $10 for each additional event.  Registration is open to all skiers, including non-members (who pay an extra $5 one-day license fee), so come race and bring a friend so they will fall in love with NYSSRA ski racing and join next season.

NYSSRA-Nordic Championship Events

The NYSSRA-Nordic Championships will be held at Mt. Van Hoevenberg, Lake Placid NY, March 12-13.  The schedule for the event is as follows:

10:00 AM 2011 NYSSRA Biathlon Sprint Championship Race.

8:00 am registration.  9:00 am zero.

1:00 PM 2011 NYSSRA Champions Cup Race (21 km Classic).

Registration at noon. 21 km Classic ( J2′s 7k).  Wave Start.  Featuring the twisting and rolling terrain of the Biathlon side of Mt Van Hoevenberg,  the NYSSRA Champions cup will be used to crown the top skiers in New York State.  NYSSRA points are doubled for this race.  Points will be used to crown NYSSRA Points Series champions and to determine the overall 2010 NYSSRA Club Series Champions.  Remember, you must ski in this race in order to be eligible for NYSSRA end-of-season awards.

2011 NYSSRA AWARDS:  Following the Champions Cup Race  (approximately 3 pm)

End of season XC awards, including the NY State Champion’s Cup will take place in the Biathlon Lodge, immediately following the Champions Cup Race.  High Peaks Cyclery will be donating some tremendous raffle prizes as well!

10:00 am 2011 NYSSRA Biathlon Sprint Relay Championship.

3 x 6 km relay.  8:00 am registration.  9:00 am zero.

1:00 pm 2011 NYSSRA Nordic Club Relay Championship (6 x 2 km freestyle)

Registration at noon.  Sanctioned clubs may enter teams of 2 or 3 to ski the 6 x 2 km freestyle relay race. Clubs may enter as many teams as they wish. Scores will count toward the NYSSRA-Nordic Club Series only. Trophies and medals will be awarded to the top 3 of each mens, womens and mixed relay teams. For club points scoring, team age classification will be determined by the average age of all team members.  The NYSSRA Nordic Club Championship Banner will be presented at the completion of this race.
